Candida Overlay Post-Cleanse Care

Candida Overlay Program Post Cleanse Information Sheet

You have made a strong start at cleansing out the overgrowth of Candida with our intensive Cleanse Program. Depending on how developed the overgrowth is, you will want to follow a fairly strict Post Cleanse Program to completely rebalance your body. All the guidelines on our General Post Cleanse Brochure apply, and in addition to this, we recommend you follow these Candida specific suggestions.

You will, in essence, continue the approach you started with us during your Candida Cleanse – an effective three-fold approach of not feeding it, reducing its presence, and rebalancing the gut bacteria. This is a program that you can continue and maintain in your everyday life by having a careful diet, using herbs to attack the issue and probiotics and fiber to balance the intestines.

We suggest you follow all three aspects, as following only one aspect of this program will lead to slower and inferior results.

Not feeding the candida

We suggest to follow the general advice of the Post Cleanse Brochure for the first few days and to continue to avoid the following in order to not feed the Candida. Candida feeds off sugar, so know that when you are having sugar cravings, it is the Candida demanding to be fed and that you have the choice to either feed it or starve it out of your body for a period of time till it is gone, before returning back to enjoying wholesome sweets again.

Avoid :

  • All processed sugars including agave, maple syrup and coconut sugar, (a little raw honey is ok)
  • All processed carbohydrates such as pasta and bread and pastries
  • Sodas and alcohol as they are loaded in sugars
  • Fruit juices and sweet fruits such as mango, peaches, coconut water & sweet apples, sour fruits are fine. Occasional sub acidic fruits such as papaya is ok
  • All processed foods in general as they often contain hidden sugars as well as preservatives which destroy the positive intestinal bacteria’s which keep the Candida at bay
  • Dairy in general, although a little strong cheese such as parmesan and blue cheeses are ok in moderation. Ghee is also considered suitable.

This doesn’t have to be too difficult, but it will require willpower on your part. Try to populate your diet with plenty of different types of vegetables, raw and cooked, whole grains, clean proteins (such as wild-caught fish, organic meats, tempeh, free-range organic eggs), sour fruits, seeds and nuts.

Reducing the candida

Herbs are the main tool used in the ‘Attack’ aspect of the program as they are powerful enough to kill off the excess Candida.

Please continue with  – Oregano Oil, GSE Grapefruit Seed Extract, Pau d Arco and Zapper as directed

You could add to your daily care plan:-

Raw apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons in the water on an empty stomach is great for maintaining a pH level they don’t like

Probiotics particularly the strains of Lactobacillus Plantarum. Lactobacillus acidophilus, Leuconostoc Mesenteroides, Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus Reuters. Choose a wide range of strains in your probiotics and alternate regularly.

Rebalancing your intestinal microbiome

Establishing a healthy environment for your intestines will keep the Candida in check and prevent it from returning. This is essential for general preventative health and particularly more important when dealing with a condition such as Candida. Follow our regular guidelines on the general Post Cleanse Brochure, in particular.

  • Take a soluble form of fiber such as psyllium/ chia seeds regularly and ideally with liquid probiotics as this makes a complete pre & probiotic combination ideal for positive gut bacteria
  • Take probiotics in all forms – as suggested above, psyllium with liquid probiotics, probiotic capsules, fermented vegetables such as kimchi & sauerkraut, kefir & kombucha.
  • Eating a balanced diet with lots of vegetables, whole foods and observing the eating guidelines in our general brochure
  • Making sure you are digesting well as the improperly digested foods will create an environment that Candida and other bad bacteria will thrive in.
  • You must also ensure that you are eliminating regularly first thing in the morning every day. If this is not the case, you may be creating the environment Candida loves to thrive in.

How long to continue with the self-care candida program?

We suggest following these guidelines for at least 3 weeks, however, this process may take up to 6 months or more depending on the intensity of the overgrowth. We encourage you to give yourself as long as you need to be clear of this condition as its impact on your overall health can have long term consequences if not handled carefully.

You can see whether you are making progress by looking at your tongue before and after tongue-scraping and observing how the white coating that looks like grass growing on your tongue is decreasing and actually gradually disappearing.

Continue to keep to the program as long as you have this overgrowth on the tongue. If you step off the regime for a while, you may notice your tongue getting worse, digestive issues occurring and sugar cravings getting stronger. This is a sign that you have not yet cleared the condition, so pick it up & continue with it again. You can also do the morning spit test we describe in the Candida Information Sheet to see whether it has cleared.
